Aerobatic flight is for me one of the purest forms of flying. There is no electronics, flight management systems or complex avionics. Its just you, stick and throttle and endless combinations of loops and rolls to explore the sky. From zero to maximum airspeed, and alot of G-forces! This “Unlimited flight” and total freedom is the reason why I am so fascinated with this sport. Its a thrill ride compared to nothing els. So follow me on my adventure when Im flying aerobatic competitions in the Bellanca Super Decathlon. Its gona be a fun ride!
Aerobatic flying is defined when the aircraft is inclined more than 60 ° in the rolling plane and more than 30 ° in the longitudinal plane. When you are doing aerobatics you can fly the airplane however you like, the only limitation is how much load you and the airplane can take. If you wanna fly aerobatic, you need an airplane specially rated to withstand high G-loads, for at least +6 G and -3 G. 1 G corresponds to the pulling force that the body has when standing on the ground and at +2 G you weigh twice as much. And if you hang upsidedown you have -1G.
